“The evil life of Confucius”

For several years, Confucius traveled around the various states, everyone always yelling at him like a rat in the streets. In 484 BCE, Confucius was already sixty-eight years old after having obstinately fled here and scurried there in hopes of restoring the slave system. In the end, there he was sitting in a broken horse cart in the dusk of the setting sun, in the awkward position of being unwilling to return to his home in the capital of Lu (today Qufu in Shandong Province).
